FIARA 2025, Food Sovereignty: Issues – Challenges – Perspectives
The 25th edition of the International Fair for Agriculture and Animal Resources (FIARA) was held from 24 April to 20 May 2025 at the CICES in Dakar. The Federation of Non-Governmental Organizations of Senegal (FONGS) reserved seven booths for its member associations.
A key event on the West African agricultural calendar, FIARA provides a prime meeting place for producers, farmers’ organisations, institutions and the general public. It highlights local initiatives, promotes the exchange of expertise and showcases products from family farming.
In a context marked by the challenges of climate change, market volatility and food security, this edition placed particular emphasis on the issues of food sovereignty. FONGS member organisations were thus able to present their work, share their experiences and advocate for sustainable agricultural models rooted in local communities.
