AlimenTERRE Festival
Growing engagement with food-related issues
From 16 October to 16 November 2025, the AlimenTERRE Luxembourg Festival, coordinated by SOS Faim, brought together citizens, schools, businesses and institutions to discuss issues relating to food systems, from farm to fork. The festival is part of an international network spanning 17 countries and aims to raise awareness of the challenges of sustainable agriculture, social justice and food transitions.
In Luxembourg, the 2025 edition confirmed the festival’s continued growth, with over 3,500 participants, nearly 60 screenings organised across the country and around 60 partners involved. These figures represent a significant increase compared with the previous edition (1,780 participants in 2024).
The programme centred on screenings of documentary films, followed by film discussions, educational workshops and round-table discussions. These formats facilitated discussions between diverse audiences and speakers on agricultural, climate and social issues related to food.
Among the highlights, the opening night at Les Rotondes kicked off the festival with a screening of the film *La fracture de l’eau*, followed by a discussion with experts and the audience. An event organised as part of the European Climate Pact also brought together around 400 participants at Kinepolis Kirchberg for a screening of the documentary *Milked*, helping to raise the event’s profile among institutions.
The closing night at the Altrimenti cultural centre brought together around a hundred people for a performance combining theatrical improvisation and the festival’s themes. Several screenings organised in partnership with Teranga and the Municipality of Schifflange also helped to extend the discussions within a local context.
All the events were characterised by a high level of public participation and engagement, with the public playing an active part in the discussions and debates held throughout the festival.
