Meeting the people of Luxembourg in 2024
For the first time, the SOS Faim team travelled across the country for eight weeks, meeting its inhabitants to raise awareness of the NGO’s work in Africa and Luxembourg. We were very well received by the population, and our recruiters obtained financial support from 240 new donors to guarantee SOS Faim’s financial independence and preserve our values.
It should be noted that they do not and will never accept cash and only ask potential donors to fill out a monthly support form to confirm their commitment. They are easily identifiable by their official SOS Faim clothing and badge and do not enter people’s homes.
Why are these regular donations so crucial?
As an NGO, SOS Faim must ensure that at least 20% of its funds come from its own sources in order to access public co-financing, particularly from the MAE. This represents a major challenge in a context where institutional resources are becoming increasingly scarce. Having our own funds means we can initiate projects, respond quickly to emergencies and, above all, assert our strategic independence. This is why it is essential to innovate and constantly strengthen our base of committed donors, who are true partners in our solidarity efforts.
