SAIN farm school, Kakanitchoé (Benin) - 22 July 2024
Visit by a delegation from the Luxembourg Ministry of Foreign Affairs to AAGAC
On 22 July 2024, a delegation from the Luxembourg Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs (MAEE) visited the SAIN farm school in Kakanitchoé (Benin), a training centre run by AAGAC (Association Agro-écologique d’Action Communautaire, Agroecological Association for Community Action), a partner of SOS Faim since 2021.
AAGAC offers free 18-month training in agroecology to young people who have dropped out of school, with support for setting up agricultural businesses. The farm school, which is backed by an agroecological farm, serves as a place for training, experimentation and the production of organic inputs.
The partnership with SOS Faim is part of the 2024–2028 Framework Cooperation Agreement, which aims to strengthen sustainable and equitable food systems in Africa. The support focuses on three areas: institutional strengthening (operations, HR, strategic reviews), support for training (internships, equipment, buildings, exchanges between young people), and the development of alternative agroecological solutions (studies, equipment, technical trials).
This visit is part of the follow-up to actions implemented in Benin under the programme covering six countries in West Africa (Benin, Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, Senegal) and the Horn of Africa (Ethiopia), and the development of a fruitful partnership between Benin and Luxembourg.
